lost

When you are a child and get separated from your parent, fear rises and security vanishes.

You recover upon being found and embraced by your parent. But, when you are lost as a teen or an adult, there might not be someone there to rescue you from the circumstances and feelings that you are experiencing.

You may feel lost in life if…

you have no direction

you feel empty, unfulfilled, or dead inside

you are in a bad relationship

you are in an unsatisfying or toxic job

you have lost yourself taking care of others

you don’t fit in anywhere

you are living in overwhelm

You may get lost in…

food

alcohol

prescription pain medications or street drugs

self-defeating thoughts and destructive behaviors

Not knowing how to change course can lead to…

feelings of defeat, fear, desperation, and hopelessness

paralysis and shutting down

resentment and acting out

becoming someone you don’t want to be

engaging in unhealthy behaviors

questioning your purpose in life

The key to finding yourself or your way back to a happier road is to…

pay attention to your thoughts and feelings and the people or situations that led you off course in the first place

decide upon the changes you need to make to guide you back on course

reach out for help from a family member, friend, or teacher if they are equipped and willing to help

reach out to a life coach (I am here to help you find your way)

reach out to a therapist if the situation has reached a level where you are chronically depressed and/or anxious

reach out to your priest, pastor or any other religious or spiritual figure if that is part of your system of faith

Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find yourself.

it is important to change your course before stress takes its toll on your emotional and physical health.

there are healthy ways of escaping and dealing with struggles.

there are ways to rise up, take control, and change your situation.

find yourself.

find your direction in life.

(some stories of people’s struggles will follow in upcoming blog posts)
